About Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense (EBAD)

Ensign-Bickford Aerospace & Defense (EBAD) is a US manufacturer of ordnance and release systems for spacecraft and launch vehicles, with heritage dating back to the Ensign-Bickford Company founded in the 19th century.

For the small-satellite market EBAD produces the TiNi shape-memory-alloy family of non-explosive actuators — FrangiBolt bolt-release actuators, pin pullers and ejectors — widely used for solar-array, antenna and payload hold-down and release. The devices are resettable on the ground, contain no pyrotechnics and have extensive flight heritage.
