About
FocusCloseAp is an advanced operational software designed to mitigate collision risks for satellites. It automatically retrieves NORAD two-line element (TLE) data from the internet and, in conjunction with the FocusSuite product family, processes this information to generate orbital and maneuver data for a chosen set of satellites. The software then calculates various levels of close approach warnings, providing increasingly detailed information and graphics as an approach becomes more critical. Its advanced scheduling features enable fully automated and regular processing with minimal user interaction, and program results are automatically reported to users. Key features include unlimited automation for unattended operations and adaptability to specific customer needs. The software detects close approaches between the target satellite (using operational orbit data) and external objects (using TLEs propagated with SGP and a proprietary algorithm for enhanced accuracy). It supports large satellite fleets with integrated input forms, reports, and optimized calculations. FocusCloseAp employs an efficient apogee-perigee filter followed by an intelligent filter to exclude objects unlikely to cause a close conjunction, using a precise root finder to determine the exact time of closest approach. It generates Collision Data Messages (CDMs) for calculated events, maintains a historical CDM database, and produces additional analysis products such as B-plane plots, relative distance plots, uncertainty evolution plots around TCA, event history plots, and collision probability analyses at scale, as well as parametric studies for collision avoidance maneuvers.
