FocusSuite® is GMV's advanced flight dynamics system (FDS) software suite designed to support the complete lifecycle of flight dynamics operations for any space mission. It assists satellite operators in effectively executing tasks such as satellite control, fleet management, space debris conjunction assessment, mission analysis, data visualization, and other related activities necessary for safe operation of satellites and fleets throughout their mission. The system supports all mission phases, including preparation and analysis, launch and early orbit phase (LEOP) operations, in-orbit operations, and end-of-life and deorbiting. It is compatible with all types of orbital regimes, including GEO, LEO, MEO, HEO, and even interplanetary missions (Moon, Mars).
Key features include manual, automatic, and 'as a service' operation modes, mission analysis, and close approach prediction. It offers immediate support for most commercial satellite platforms and boasts advanced usability, designed by and for flight dynamics engineers. FocusSuite is 100% flight-proven with over 139 operational missions and is used by more than 50% of major satellite operators. It provides unlimited automation for unattended operations through intuitive Python/SQL scripts, which are editable and adaptable for scheduled or event-based executions. The system includes FDS administration functions like user management, secure login, inter-site redundancy (hot-switch capability), automatic backups, FDS system logs, and data archiving.
FocusSuite is open and extensible, offering a well-documented and intuitive Rest API and Python SDK. It uses standards like CCSDS and C2MS for data input/output, ensuring interoperability with third-party services. The web application features an advanced, simple, and intuitive UI, providing access to all functions, including login, program execution, navigation, dashboard editing and configuration, real-time 2D/3D orbit graphics, and Gantt charts. It includes an integrated dashboard for global FDS surveillance and monitoring, customizable for specific satellite fleets or constellations, and an integrated FDS event log viewer. Security is ensured through HTTPS protocol, end-to-end encrypted communications, ISO7001 compliance, and Oauth2 single authentication. It supports parallelization of FDS processes for optimized performance and is scalable from a single satellite to large fleets. The system is database-driven, cloud-native, and flexible, with interfaces to multiple control centers like GMV's Hifly and most MCS systems (e.g., ESA's SCOS2000, Kratos' EPOCH).
Operational needs covered include orbit determination and propagation, maneuver planning and optimization, station-keeping (absolute and relative constellation control), mass logging, maneuver reconstruction, and platform limitations. It incorporates flight dynamics models adapted to the mechanism in use for continuous updates and improvements, and cutting-edge orbit control strategies for all orbital regimes, including eccentricity, inclination, and semi-major axis control, ground track control, and relative control. A generic maneuver optimization module based on ML/AI techniques is also included, alongside orbit determination using least squares batch estimation, sequential algorithms, and Kalman filter.
