About
The Viasat GAT-5510 is a Ka-band airborne terminal equipped with a 12-inch (30.5 cm) parabolic antenna capable of operating on the full ITU Ka-band spectrum with all polarizations. It is part of Viasat’s next-generation family of full-ITU Ka-band terminals, providing broadband, in-flight connectivity services for airborne operations globally. This terminal is designed to be future-proof, ensuring interoperability across all Viasat Ka-band satellites, including the planned ViaSat-3 global constellation. The system comprises three Line Replaceable Units (LRUs): a 12-inch antenna with integrated RF and ACU, a next-generation modem, and an antenna power supply unit. The antenna can be tail or fuselage mounted. It offers access to the highest capacity Ka-band satellites and is a low SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) solution suitable for fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) platforms. When partnered with Viasat’s Best Available Network (BAN), the GAT-5510 delivers mission-critical connectivity and capabilities, enabling powerful data rates. Applications include en route government C3 and VIP transport communications for data, VoIP, VTC, internet access, virtual collaboration, and IPTV, as well as real-time intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) with HD full-motion video and multi-sensor/multi-intelligence operations for instant situational awareness and decision making.
