About

Viasat’s second-generation Ku/Ka broadband airborne terminal, the GAT-5530, is a multi-network, multi-orbital, and multi-band antenna capable of operating across the full-ITU Ka-band spectrum. It delivers fast speeds to support multiple aircraft sensors, ensuring real-time connectivity globally. Built for challenging flight operations in virtually any airspace, it integrates with a wide range of military aircraft to connect warfighters to critical information for mission success. Features include a fuselage mount, medium profile, waveguide horn array antenna, and easy integration into medium and long-range airframes with line-fit options for procurement flexibility. It provides access to current Ku & Ka-band networks and future high-capacity Ka-band satellite networks, including private government in-theater networks for specific mission charters. The GAT-5530 is designed to future-proof aircraft with dual-band capabilities, enabling interoperability across all Viasat’s Ka-band satellite constellations, such as the planned ViaSat-3 global constellation. Its open-architecture utilizes Viasat’s Best Available Network (BAN) to empower global connectivity and mission-critical capabilities, including en route government C3 and VIP transport communications (data, VoIP, VTC, internet access, virtual collaboration, IPTV) and real-time intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) with HD full motion video and multi-sensor/multi-intelligence operations for instant situational awareness and decision making.
