The Large Docking Adapter (LDA) is a critical component for the future of space exploration, enabling compatibility between larger crewed vehicles and space stations. Its open-sourced interface aims to standardize docking procedures for a new generation of spacecraft. The LDA supports 2 to 20+ modules and facilitates module-to-module connections. It is compatible with International Docking System Standard (IDSS) approach rates and loads, offering large crewed vehicle-to-station docking capability. Designed to support larger payloads with higher mass, the LDA provides the necessary load capability and stiffness for advanced space structures. Key features include retroreflectors, latches, petals, passive actuators, and hard-capture powered bolts.
