About

MagicSBAS® is an advanced, multi-constellation, and operational testbed for Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS). It offers regional differential SBAS corrections and non-safety-critical integrity augmentation for any interested region. The regional differential corrections provided by MagicSBAS® can enhance the positioning accuracy of GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou to meter-level precision. The SBAS augmentation message produced by MagicSBAS® fully complies with international SBAS standards such as RTCA/DO-229F and ICAO SARP for L1 Legacy SBAS services, as well as RTCA and ED-259 for DFMC SBAS services. MagicSBAS® messages can be retransmitted over the internet by compatible GEO satellite providers.

MagicSBAS® can process observational data from a network of continuously operating reference stations (CORS). It supports the processing of multiple GNSS constellations including GPS, GLONASS, Galileo, and BeiDou. The system optimizes bandwidth usage with an innovative technique for dynamic satellite mask management and is capable of processing raw data in standard formats such as NTRIP, RINEX, EDAS, or EGNOS. MagicSBAS® can also use precise ephemeris and clock data from external services compatible with providing an RT-PPP service via SBAS GEO.

GMV leverages over 20 years of experience in developing SBAS processing algorithms to offer MagicSBAS® to regions looking to implement their own SBAS program. It serves as both a powerful engineering environment for designing and implementing an SBAS and an operational testbed that can quickly provide an early service to demonstrate the benefits of SBAS technology. The system implements state-of-the-art SBAS estimation algorithms based on processing GNSS observations from a reference station network. The MagicSBAS® product suite includes a real-time service monitor and two performance analysis products, MagicGEMINI and Eclayr, allowing operators to perform comprehensive performance analyses including accuracy, integrity, service continuity, and availability. MagicSBAS® wide-area augmentation algorithms have been optimized for demanding conditions and tested globally. It can operate in real-time for service provision or in rapid post-processing replay mode for analysis and troubleshooting. The COTS concept allows for implementation within a few months.

Flight heritage includes its use in projects such as SouthPAN (Australia and New Zealand), UKSBAS Testbed, EGNOS performance analysis, GLONASS-based SBAS feasibility in Russia, EGNOS extension to Eastern Europe, real-time SBAS prototypes in Brazil and Argentina (FLARE project), SACCSA program (Central, Caribbean, and South America), and SATSA (South Africa). MagicSBAS® has been used to generate messages retransmitted via geostationary satellites in various SBAS testbeds, including L1 SBAS prototypes in Brazil, Argentina, and the UK, the African L1 SBAS testbed, and the SBAS and PPP testbed in Australia and New Zealand, accumulating over 10 years of signal transmission.
