About
Magnet is GMV’s complete and scalable ground control and monitoring system, designed to manage terrestrial resources for satellite operations. It became operational in 2012 and has since been implemented across four continents, monitoring and controlling eighteen antenna sites with a total of twenty-three antennas. The system is highly focused on security, ensuring continuity, integrity, and confidentiality of the ground segment. It offers unlimited automation, supporting unattended operations, and is highly scalable, from a single antenna to multiple antennas across multiple sites. Magnet is interoperable, utilizing open data formats, exposed interfaces (API, SDK), and accessible services. It boasts wide compatibility with an extensive library of drivers for commercial equipment units and includes a development kit (Magnetddk) for configuring new controllers. The system benefits from continuous updates to maintain compatibility with the latest COTS hardware and software, including operating systems, virtualization, and dockerization platforms. Magnet also integrates with other GMV products like Archiva (for satellite and ground telemetry parameter archiving) and Autofly (for satellite and ground procedure automation). It supports flexible licensing and can be deployed on generic hardware, both physical and virtualized/dockerized.
