About
The Mechanical Device Hold-down Lock (with integrated release device) is a component of the hold-down system for deployable mechanical elements of spacecraft, holding the mechanical device in the stowed position. It provides 1000 kg clamping force and can withstand 500 kg of ultimate side loads at the deployable element interface. It includes an integrated release device actuated by 3–8 A for 1 second, rated for at least 50 actuations. Mass is 0.455 kg, operating temperature -100 to +100 °C. Released in 2016 with a 6-year service life. Adaptable to customer requirements.
