The Mechanical Unit of Antenna Pointing System, Type 3, is a two-degree-of-freedom electromechanical drive specifically designed for antenna pointing. Its primary purpose is to provide precise rotation of the mounting plane for an antenna relative to the mounting plane of the antenna pointing system control module. This rotation capability is offered in two mutually perpendicular planes, enabling versatile antenna orientation. The system is built to operate within a wide temperature range of -40 to +50 °С and boasts a significant operational life of not less than 10,000 hours, with an active lifetime of 15 years and an overall guaranteed lifetime of 19 years. It is capable of developing a torque of not less than 60 N·m for each axis and features a self-braking torque of not less than 20 N·m in a de-energized state, ensuring stability and safety. The system supports rotation angles of ±10° or ±90° for each axis and offers a slew rate ranging from 0.009 to 7.2 °/min, with a measurement error of the rotation angle not exceeding 90 arcsec.
