About

OrbiCraft 3D is an educational kit for nanosatellite platform design, intended for studying the principles of satellite engineering in spacecraft design, assembly, testing and operation processes. It was released in 2020, has a guaranteed service life of 1 year, and an estimated production/delivery time of 2 months. The kit allows students to develop and test orientation and stabilization algorithms using reaction wheels, solar sensors, magnetic field sensors, and angular velocity sensors; practice receiving and transmitting information via a UHF radio channel while simulating directional radio communication; simulate the Earth remote sensing process; design an Arduino Mega based payload and connect Troyka modules; and gain skills in programming, sensor calibration, and data processing from different types of sensors. The kit is delivered in a basic configuration with a flywheel enabling rotation in one axis, and it can be updated with a 3-axis module. Orientation and stabilization tasks can be completed with the help of a lifting bar using a thread (one-axis) or a lifting frame (3-axis). The case is made of foamed black PVC, plexiglass, and aluminum. Onboard communication within the satellite layout uses a CAN interface, while data exchange between the mock satellite and the mission control center (MCC) uses Wi-Fi and VHF. The main connector type used on the satellite layout modules is IDC 10, and the side voltage is 6.6-8.4 V. The standard constructor set weighs 2 kg. It is recommended that one kit be used for 3-5 students.
