About
Cryox is Pangea Aerospace’s methalox (LOX/methane) engine designed for orbital and kick-stage missions, delivering 30 kN of thrust with superior vacuum efficiency. It uses an electric-pump (e-pump) feed cycle rather than complex turbomachinery, which simplifies operation while still enabling precise thrust control and easy engine start-up. Cryox is deeply throttleable, from 100% down to 10% of rated thrust, giving fine control for orbit insertion, rendezvous and landing maneuvers, and it is designed for multiple restarts to support reignitable upper-stage and orbital-transfer operations. Its architecture is modular and adaptable, suitable for a wide range of missions from upper stages and space tugs to landers and crewed capsules, and can be integrated with auxiliary systems such as RCS thrusters and autogenous pressurization for a more efficient overall spacecraft design. Compared with traditional storable-propellant engines, Cryox’s closed-cycle, cryogenic-propellant design delivers higher performance while remaining more sustainable. Target applications include upper stages of small and medium launch vehicles, orbital insertion missions requiring precision, multiple payload deployments for constellation launches, and landers. Cryox is developed as part of Pangea’s Permathrust product line.
