About

The Redwire Sun Sensor Stimulator System provides a practical optical stimulus source for ground checkout of sun sensor hardware, standing in for solar illumination during integration and test. Infrared LEDs illuminate each sun sensor cell so engineers can verify sun-angle response, sun presence detection, spin pulse behavior (where applicable), sensor aliveness across temperature in vacuum, and flight harness continuity without needing to test under actual sunlight.

Control panels containing the drive circuitry for an array of stimulators are offered with front-panel controls and/or computer inputs, powered from 120-240 VAC at 50 or 60 Hz. The stimulators themselves are vacuum-chamber compatible and rated over an effective operating temperature range of -30C to +60C. Redwire can also assist customers building their own driver circuits by specifying the correct drive signals for purchased stimulator hardware.

This item covers the generic ‘sun sensor’ test-equipment gap alongside Redwire’s Coarse Sun Sensor Pyramid and Cosine Type products above.
