About
The Retractable Mast Mechanism deploys an umbrella-type deployable reflector from the transportation to the operational position and fixes it in place. A linear electromechanical mechanism, it extends a 4100 mm mast within 30 minutes, generating up to 2500 N of force with 0.1 mm positioning precision. Designed for 50 operational deployment cycles and 10-year active lifetime (14.5-year overall). Dimensions are 252 × 252 × 4100 mm, mass 12 kg. Released in 2005 with a 10-year service life and 6-month delivery time.
