About
SSOC-D60 is part of Solar MEMS’ Sun Sensor on a Chip (SSOC) family, based on MEMS fabrication processes to achieve highly integrated sensing structures for highly accurate sun-tracking, positioning systems, and attitude determination. The SSOC-D60 device measures the incident angle of a sun ray in two axes. It includes an onboard microprocessor that directly provides the sun light incident angles and their derivatives without requiring external calculations, delivering this data via a digital interface. Every unit is individually calibrated and characterized, and a look-up table is provided for its application to improve accuracy. To protect against environmental degradation in orbit, the optical eye uses a metal shield and a cover glass, which minimize ageing of the device under high radiation levels.
