About
The SOC-210 BDR is an advanced, automated bidirectional reflectometer capable of measuring the BRDF/BTDF of surfaces, paints, coatings, liquids, and particles. It operates across a broad spectral range from 0.35 to 14μm, utilizing interchangeable sources, spectral bandpass filters, and detectors. The system achieves complete hemispherical coverage by varying both incident and reflected polar and azimuth angles. Designed for automated operation, it can collect BSDF data unattended for extended periods. Its PC-based control and data acquisition system manages data collection, processing, and archiving, offering full automation for all four goniometric coordinates, switching between calibration references and samples, and configuring source aperture, neutral density filter wheel, and polarization stages. The 210-BDR ensures accurate BSDF measurements through calibration with a diffuse reflectance reference, automatically correcting beam non-uniformity. It is the only commercially available goniometer that extends to the Long Wave Infrared (LWIR) region, with pre-aligned source and detector modules (Silicon: 0.4-1.1 um, InGaAs: 1.0-1.7 um, InSb: 2.5-5.0 um, MCT: 7.0-14.0 um) that can be interchanged without realignment. The intuitive control software facilitates seamless sample selection, measurement setup, calibration, data acquisition, and storage, allowing users to customize measurement angles and view real-time BSDF data. The advanced receiver subsystem features a versatile range of individual interference spectral filters, including wide-band and thin film filters, compatible with standard 1″ OD bandpass filters from various vendors, positioned in front of the detector to minimize background spectral noise. Surface Optics Corporation (SOC) has over 40 years of experience in BRDF measurement services, with the SOC-210 BDR being the 4th generation lab bidirectional reflectometer manufactured by the company, used daily in SOC’s Optical Properties Measurements Lab.
