410-DHR Reflectometer
A portable directional-hemispherical reflectometer that measures the integrated infrared surface reflectance of large objects in the field at two angles of incidence across six wavelength bands.
Description
The 410-DHR Reflectometer is a product of collaboration between the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command and Surface Optics, with additional input from the Naval Research Lab (NRL) and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). It was developed to meet a broad need for a portable instrument capable of verifying the optical properties of large objects directly in the field. The 410-DHR measures the integrated surface reflectance of a surface at two angles of incidence (20° and 60°) across six wavelength bands spanning the 0.9 to 12 μm spectral range, covering near-infrared through mid/long-wave infrared. The instrument is paired with the SOC410-DHR touchscreen software interface, which simplifies analysis by providing guided calibration, sample identification, and measurement data display, making the device suitable for field-based inspection and verification workflows.
