UAV Satcom Test Tools

Gatehouse Satcom’s UAV Satcom Test Tools provide off-air digital-twin emulation for verifying and validating (V&V) satellite connectivity on unmanned aerial vehicles and other unmanned platforms before and after deployment, supporting compliance with beyond-line-of-sight (BLOS) flight regulations and UTM flight-data reporting requirements. The digital twin replicates the user environment and emulates the physical conditions and limitations of a satellite link, allowing operators to verify the connectivity link to and from the satellite, link impairments, beam and inter-satellite handover functions, UAV flight path effects, and antenna performance influenced by flight attitude. Using the tools, UAV manufacturers, OEMs and application providers can emulate scenarios such as signal degradation, traffic shaping, queuing, QoS and congestion, generating comprehensive reports for regulators and customers. The tools also support validation of video compression and encryption algorithms under realistic, controllable and repeatable maneuvering conditions, addressing the growing dependency on satellite connectivity for UAVs, UCAVs, RPAs, ASVs and UUVs.
