XRC (eXperimental Receiver Canvas) is an engineering software receiver designed for processing multiple GNSS signals using various approaches. It provides a highly configurable and extensible environment for designing and evaluating the performance of cutting-edge algorithms for GNSS signal processing. XRC intelligently utilizes available hardware resources (CPU, RAM, and GPU), allowing precise or extensive processing functions to run on a wide range of hardware, from low-spec laptops to high-end servers. It can process signal samples of varying resolutions, from low-resolution (e.g., 1 bit at 10 MSps) to high-quality (e.g., 16 bit at 400 MSps) in IQ, BB, or IF formats. XRC supports processing signal samples according to the ION metadata standard or a simple IQ with a configurable number of bits. It is compatible with GPS, Galileo, GLONASS, and Beidou constellations. Its flexibility allows it to be configured and used as a receiver with different functions, enabling both low-cost and high-end signal quality monitoring. XRC outputs a wide range of standard metrics at configurable rates, including code delay, carrier phase, Doppler, C/no, correlator information, and discriminator data for all processed signals. When high-resolution samples are provided, XRC generates SQM information such as autocorrelation function, correlation loss, S-curve, error vector magnitude, eye diagram, and power spectral density. The modular, object-oriented design and injection point interfaces facilitate the extension of core techniques. It outputs raw data, metrics in text format, and RINEX files for users to integrate with their own PVT engines. Use cases include signal quality monitoring, research in hostile environments where signals are affected by multipath deficiencies, and receiver representativeness for testing various multi-frequency, multi-constellation receiver configurations.
