RD874

The RD874 is the integrated first stage propulsion system for Cyclone-4M and Cyclone-5 launch vehicles, comprising four clustered RD870 engines that together provide roll, pitch, and yaw control through individual gimballing. Employing tried-and-tested technologies of the Zenit launch vehicle and burning liquid oxygen and kerosene, the combined system produces 319.2 tf of sea-level thrust and […]

About

The RD874 is the integrated first stage propulsion system for Cyclone-4M and Cyclone-5 launch vehicles, comprising four clustered RD870 engines that together provide roll, pitch, and yaw control through individual gimballing. Employing tried-and-tested technologies of the Zenit launch vehicle and burning liquid oxygen and kerosene, the combined system produces 319.2 tf of sea-level thrust and 356.4 tf of vacuum thrust, with specific impulses of 303.2 seconds at sea level and 338.7 seconds in vacuum. The propellant mixture ratio is 2.68 with a single combined start. Dry weight of the four-engine cluster is 6,070 kg. The RD874 has achieved Technology Readiness Level 6, confirming demonstration in a relevant environment through Cyclone-4M ground development and testing.
