About Space Electric Thruster Systems (SETS)

SETS (Space Electric Thruster Systems) is an aerospace company specializing in high-performance electric propulsion technologies for satellites, founded in 2016 in Dnipro, Ukraine. The company began as a laboratory effort building core teams, procuring vacuum test stands, and defining electric-propulsion design parameters, developing laboratory prototypes of anode blocks, hollow cathodes, xenon feed systems, and power processing units by 2018, and receiving a Seal of Excellence Certificate from the European Commission.

SETS covers the full system scope of electric propulsion: Hall-effect thrusters, xenon storage and feed systems, and power processing units, integrated into complete propulsion systems. Between 2019 and 2021 the company produced qualification models across its product lines and expanded its test facilities, which include multiple vacuum chambers ranging from small cathode/low-power test chambers up to a large chamber for full propulsion systems, plume diagnostics, in-house leak/vibration/functional testing, orbital and laser welding, and ISO 8 clean rooms. In 2021-2022 SETS designed, tested, and shipped its first flight models to private customers.

The company has flight heritage since May 2023, including its SPS-25 propulsion system flown on the EOS SAT-1 satellite. Its team includes a professor and multiple PhDs with decades of combined experience in electric propulsion and plasma physics, drawing partly from Oles Honchar Dnipro National University's Faculty of Physics and Technology.
