The Collins Aerospace TELDIX RSI 45 provides integrated Wheel Drive Electronics with angular momentum storage of 15 to 45 Nms and high torque capability at reduced maximum wheel speed, making it well-suited for agile satellites requiring rapid maneuvers. Drawing on more than 40 years of TELDIX space-wheel heritage and 7,300 years of cumulative in-orbit experience, the RSI 45 is qualified for attitude control systems of satellites in the 500 to 1,500 kg class. The modular subsystem architecture — separately space-qualified rotor, motor, bearing unit, and electronics — allows fast customer-specific customization and flexible integration. Hermetically sealed and designed for minimum power/loss torque, the RSI 45 is optimized for both volume and mass. It can operate as a momentum wheel or a reaction wheel with a design lifetime of more than 15 years.
