Contour Heat Pipes (CHPs) are hermetic, closed, two-phase (vapor/liquid) thermal transfer systems filled with a working fluid, typically Ammonia or Propylene. Their primary purpose is the thermal control of spacecraft equipment. Key advantages of CHPs include a design that allows for active and passive control of their performance, the ability to operate in any arbitrary position within a gravity field, and small pipe diameters that enable bending of transport lines, significantly simplifying integration into spacecraft.
