The Ekran-M satellite is a communications and broadcasting spacecraft developed by ISS Reshetnev. It operates in Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) at an altitude of 36,000 km. The satellite features an active Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS) and has an Electrical Power System (EPS) power output of 1800 W. With a mass of 2100 kg, the Ekran-M is designed for a lifetime of 3 years. Its launch vehicles include the Proton-K carrier rocket with a DM upper stage, or the Proton-M carrier rocket with a Briz-M upper stage, both launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The first launch of an Ekran-M satellite took place on December 27, 1987.
