The Model 4460 Portable Digital RF/IF Receiver is a compact and lightweight unit housed in a 10.75 x 12 x 1.75 inches chassis, powered by a standard laptop power supply or external battery. It integrates an RF Signal Processor, two Demodulators, two Bit Synchronizers, and two Frame Synchronizers (Pattern Detectors) on a single slot 6U VME/PCI card, offering a cost-competitive and flexible solution for various communication link scenarios. Key features include a NEW! 70MHz Test Modulator Output function, Adaptive Equalization (AEQ) to combat multipath distortion and fading for higher fidelity output, and support for Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes on the downlink. The receiver processes three RF Bands: S Band (2185 MHz to 2485 MHz), Upper L Band (1700 MHz to 1850 MHz), and Lower L Band (1427 MHz to 1545 MHz), with other frequencies available upon request. Users can choose from four IF filters based on specific requirements. Demodulation and baseband bit synchronization are entirely digital. Signal acquisition involves scanning the IF within a programmed band centered on the carrier frequency, with PM/PSK waveforms also scanned at subcarrier frequencies. After acquisition, synchronized signal tracking maintains continuous lock state validation. The unit includes various FEC decoders and two fully programmable frame synchronizers for pattern detection. Data output options include Byte aligned Ethernet (optional), TTL, or RS422 ports. An optional Ethernet output mode provides frame synchronized byte aligned data, with UDP/IP transport for raw data and optionally HDLC/AX.25mdata. IRIG-106 Chapter 10 compatible output is also available. An encapsulated data and data-quality output can be included to support GDP Best Source Selector products.
