About
The 5m panchromatic (PAN) and 8-Band multispectral (MS) camera is a high-resolution Earth observation payload. It was launched into orbit aboard the Wenchang-01/02 satellites on February 27, 2022, serving as the primary payload of Wenchang-1. The camera weighs approximately 6.5kg and provides a swath width greater than 115 km. Its primary function is to enable high-resolution Earth observation and offer comprehensive, operational monitoring of Hainan Island and its surrounding waters. The system supports various spatial data needs in key areas such as natural resources, agriculture, forestry, marine environment monitoring, maritime shipping, emergency search and rescue, and fisheries information services. It serves government departments in natural resources, agriculture, forestry, marine affairs, and environmental protection, as well as key cities and counties including Haikou, Sanya, and Sansha. By providing highly detailed spatial awareness, it contributes to the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port and the protection of marine resources.
