The 5m multispectral camera was launched into orbit aboard the Wenchang-1/01 and Wenchang-1/02 satellites on February 27, 2022, serving as the primary payload of the Wenchang-1 mission. Weighing approximately 6.5 kg, it provides a swath width greater than 115 km, enabling high-resolution Earth observation and operational monitoring of Hainan Island and its surrounding waters for natural resources, agriculture, forestry, marine environment monitoring, maritime shipping, emergency search and rescue, and fisheries information services.
