About
Northrop Grumman’s MRE (Monopropellant Rocket Engine) family are catalytic hydrazine thrusters used for satellite attitude and velocity control, ranging in size from 0.1 lbf to 15 lbf thrust class. All models use Shell 405 catalyst beds and Northrop Grumman’s proprietary head-space design for long demonstrated life, and have flown on programs including Pioneer 10/11, DSP, TDRS, Chandra X-ray Observatory, FLTSATCOM, EOS, SOHO, KOMPSAT and Intelsat III.
The family spans five thrust classes: MRE-0.1 (0.4 N), MRE-1.0 (4.4 N), MRE-4.0 (18 N), MRE-5.0 (22 N), and MRE-15 (86 N), each independently qualified with demonstrated propellant throughput and cycle life.
