About
The Oxford Space Systems Yagi antenna is engineered to enable next-generation AIS (Automatic Identification System) and VDES (VHF Data Exchange System) services from space. It delivers high RF performance for maritime and vessel tracking in the VHF band. The antenna is highly efficient, stowing in a 1U volume and deploying in a single step using strain energy. The current product configuration features three elements and has flight heritage. A 2-element version is also under development. The antenna has a deployed length of 900 mm. Key features include high gain, stowage efficiency (1U), low mass and complexity, a scalable design, optimization for AIS and VDES applications, a directional pattern, and it is ITAR-free. The antenna operates in the VHF frequency band.
