About
The PocketQube Kit v1.0 EM is designed as a first step to building a satellite, addressing the high costs traditionally associated with satellite development. It is available in two versions: Regular and Lite. Both versions include an Alba Orbital Skeletonized structure (1p, 2p, or 3p), an Alba Orbital Labsat (Test and Development Board), and an Alba Orbital On Board Computer (OBC). The MinisatCom Radio is only included in the ‘Regular’ Kit. The kit is suitable for a wide range of groups, including K-12, High School, and University STEM educators, as well as governmental customers looking to initiate a program. The MiniSatCom from Radiobro is a transceiver designed for PocketQube Satellites, available in 420-450MHz or 902-928MHz versions, and is compatible with the PQ60 standard. The Labsat development board allows users to test and characterize single boards or full stacks safely via USB, providing four PocketQube headers and a microprocessor. The Skeletonized Structure is made of aerospace-grade aluminum with a plated finish (flight model only) and includes two micro-switches for double redundancy, accommodating PCB board stacks like PQ60 v1.0. The entry-level OBC utilizes a TI MSP430 microcontroller for low power consumption and flexibility, serving as the primary control hub. It is programmable and comes with drivers for on-board sensor data, including temperature, RTC, accelerometer, gyrometer, and magnetometer. The OBC also features reprogrammable NOR Flash memory and an SD card expansion slot, operating on a regulated 3.3V supply voltage and meeting PQ60 standards for interoperability via SPI and I2C protocols. A ProtoQube prototyping and breakout board for the PQ60 standard is also part of the kit. The kit also includes a rugged transportation and storage case.
