About
The R2D3 CubeSat Bus is a scalable satellite platform available in sizes from 1U to 16U, tailored for various space missions and first flown in 2022. It integrates a robust on-board computer (OBC) that handles essential mission operations and optional image data processing, alongside an efficient electric power system with solar panels and batteries for reliable functionality. Customers can integrate their own additional systems, and the platform lets customers choose and integrate their own Attitude Determination and Control System (ADCS) and communication system to satisfy specific pointing and communication needs. Optional add-ons include sun sensors/star trackers and electric propulsion with fuel tanks for small form-factor applications. The bus can also be integrated with a deorbit drag device to satisfy the upcoming FCC end-of-life five-year deorbit rule, enabling cost-effective passive deorbiting from altitudes up to 700 km without a propulsion system, serving as a lower-cost alternative to dedicated propulsion/ADCS deorbit solutions for altitudes up to 700 km.
