About

FALCCON (Frequency Agile L-Band – Core Common Node) is Redwire’s scalable high-gain broadband space antenna, offered as a standard product for tactical communications, telemetry, navigation, and remote sensing. It is built from a common-core unit-cell ‘node’ that produces a gain-frequency curve suited to broadband applications; apertures can be scaled in physical size for link budget requirements and in frequency for different mission bands.

FALCCON apertures deliver equal power flux across a wide spectrum (24%+ bandwidth) by balancing antenna boresight gain against path loss over the operating band, while providing high power handling and high efficiency for sensitive uplinks. The variant documented here is tuned for L-Band tactical waveforms such as MIDS Link-16, and the portfolio also includes a wideband high-gain GNSS option.

The current lineup offers a high-gain 21 dBic configuration (80 x 80 x 38 cm) and an intermediate-gain 18.5 dBic configuration (60 x 60 x 38 cm, height excludes elevation structure and gimbal), both massing under 10 kg (excluding customer-furnished gimbal). The antenna can be edge-mounted to a nadir deck for a gimballed interface or direct-mounted for body-steered spacecraft, includes launch locks, supports body-pointed or 2-axis gimbal pointing, and is rated for a design life greater than 5 years. Applications include MIDS Link-16, GNSS, commercial communications, telemetry, radar, and SIGINT.
