The RavenEye5 is a flight-proven and highly reliable optical payload specifically designed for CubeSat structures. It is capable of capturing high-resolution images from the ground surface and atmospheric phenomena. This camera is engineered to be easily integrated into a standard CubeSat alongside other subsystems, facilitating low-cost Earth observation missions. Key features include an aperture size of 60 mm and availability in 5, 16, and 51 Mpixel configurations. It supports multiple data interfaces including LVDS, RS422, and Ethernet, with data transmission via UART RS485 at 6.25. The camera outputs images in RAW and JPEG formats and offers adjustable parameters such as integration time, frame rate, gain, and black level. Applications for the RavenEye5 include Earth observation, PAN Chromatic, Multi Spectral, and Hyper Spectral imaging, as well as self-defense. The camera has a 2U form factor, a mass of 1,300 grams, and consumes less than 5W of power. CAVU Aerospace also provides Engineering Model (EM) solutions with commercial off-the-shelf lens assemblies (16mm & 400mm) for reduced development costs and immediate shipment. Integration capabilities include drivers for Raspberry Pi and NVIDIA, hardware-accelerated imaging on Microchip PolarFire SoC FPGA for low-power, deterministic, high-throughput performance, and a RAW 12-bit Bayer pipeline with zero compression for full dynamic range and low-noise image quality. It also features real-time, lossless center cropping in hardware and integration with NVIDIA Jetson via up to 4-lane MIPI CSI-2 for high-bandwidth image streaming. The RavenEye5 offers dual CLI/GUI control interfaces for flexible operation and system integration and boasts a radiation-tolerant design with SEU immunity, ensuring continuous operation in space without scrubbing or recovery.
