About
The Saft 4S1P VES16 battery is a compact, space-qualified lithium-ion battery module based on VES16 cells in a 4-series, 1-parallel arrangement. It provides 64 Wh of energy at a nominal pack voltage of 13.2–16.4 V and is sized for very low power missions such as microsatellites and nanosatellites. It can be used standalone or assembled in larger arrays to scale power from 30 W to 12 kW depending on mission needs.
The battery includes circuit breakers at cell level, thermal sensors, heaters, an MDMA 37P connector for power and telemetry, an aluminium structural plate, and a stainless steel housing. More than 80 spacecraft are in orbit with VES16-based batteries. Batteries are assembled at Saft’s Poitiers facility.
