The Deep Thought is a high-performance on-board computer specifically engineered for space applications, featuring a compact design and robust functionality. It is built around a SAMV71Q21 microcontroller and runs on a FreeRTOS-based operating system. The computer includes internal and external watchdogs for enhanced reliability and offers significant memory with 3x 1 MiB external FRAM storage and 4x 32 MiB external Flash storage. It integrates a suite of on-board sensors including a gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetometer, and temperature sensor. The Deep Thought provides a wide array of interfaces, including 2x I2C (one isolated), 1x RS485, 1x UART, 1x CAN, 1x SPI, 6x PWM, 22x GPIO (with 4x 12-bit ADC), USB, QSPI, and JTAG on a separated connector. It operates across a wide temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and has a low power consumption profile. The product comes with an aluminum cover, a USS Module for testing and development, a debug cable, 1 hour of engineering support, and is shipped in a hardcase. It is ITAR-free and has flight heritage.
