About

STARCOM is Mbryonics’ laser communication terminal (LCT) for satellite optical links, comprising an LCT head, an Antenna Control Unit (ACU), and optional modem and optical amplifier integration. It targets data rates up to 400 Gbps (roadmap 2027) and inter-satellite link distances exceeding 80,000 km, with a usable aperture reported to be 50% larger than competing terminals. The system supports dual polarization and quantum key distribution, is configurable for in-plane and out-of-plane deployment, and is compatible with EST, SDA, ESTOL, and CCSDS standards. It operates at 1550nm and is compatible with third-party modems, with advanced jitter management to handle satellite bus vibration while maintaining low power consumption at high data rates. STARCOM has been selected for use by organizations including DARPA, ESA, SpeQtral, and Airbus Defence and Space.
