About
The EWC15-NG is Syrlinks’ next-generation transceiver, engineered to provide high-performance Telemetry, Tracking and Control (TT&C) services. Its hardware design is based on and inherits from the well-known EWC15 and EWC15-C products, which have been utilized in significant space missions such as ROSETTA, DEEP IMPACT, PARASOL, and MICROSCOPE. The original EWC15 was developed for Inter-Satellite-Link (ISL) applications, offering compact, highly reliable, and cost-effective RF communication links, and has since been adopted for TT&C in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) small satellite missions. It has been selected as the baseline TT&C for the MYRIADE platform by CNES/Airbus D&S/Thales. The EWC15 series boasts a strong reliability record with over 50 Flight Model units delivered and more than 300 years of on-orbit operational time. The EWC15-NG is specifically designed for top-tier performance in Tx/Rx communication links, ensuring full CCSDS compliance, optimized power consumption, and enhanced radiation tolerance. It incorporates a smart communication protocol for rapid signal acquisition, including on-board and ground station sweep/lock on CW. With a very compact and optimized form factor that includes a built-in DC-DC converter, the EWC15-NG is suitable for integration into Mini or Micro satellites, contributing to overall satellite integration optimization. This product falls under Syrlinks’ “New Space II” category, meeting the requirements for Microsatellite missions with a typical 5-7 year lifetime in LEO and a maximum Total Ionized Radiation Dose of 16 krad. Components are selected from ESCC, MIL, DSCC, or AEC-Q grades, with COTS components also used where appropriate, subjected to specific reliability tests (e.g., life test, thermal cycling, destructive part analysis) to achieve an optimal balance between cost and hardness.
