About
The EWC27 + OPT27-SRX is a miniature X/S band transceiver designed for small satellites, offering simultaneous Telemetry & Telecommand (TT&C) in a single unit. It supports X-band (8GHz) fast telemetry up to 100 Mbps (optional) and robust S-band uplink telecommand (2025-2110MHz). The transceiver incorporates a smart power management concept to optimize efficiency for each RF power level, ensuring low power consumption. Its power supply architecture is specifically designed to protect the transmitter against latch-up effects caused by heavy ions in space. Syrlinks’ ‘nano’ radios, including this model, are designed for 2-year lifetime LEO missions, leveraging Syrlinks’ extensive experience from missions like ROSETTA in designing and manufacturing radios for micro and mini satellites. A specific product quality approach has been refined since the MYRIADE platform and ROSETTA mission with CNES. The EWC27’s design and manufacturing primarily utilize qualified COTS components, with stressing tests performed on Qualification Model (QM) units. Its architecture inherits from the EWC28 X-Band transmitter, which is already flight-proven on various missions, notably PROBA-V (ESA/QinetiQ Space nv). The EWC27 XBT can also be adapted for Deep Space applications, particularly in terms of frequency band and bitrate.
