About

The VORAGO VA41628 is a high-reliability, radiation-hardened ARM Cortex-M4 microcontroller optimized for digital-centric space applications that do not require Ethernet, SpaceWire, CAN, or analog I/O. Manufactured with VORAGO’s HARDSIL technology, the VA41628 delivers the same radiation performance as the VA41620 — exceeding 300 krad(Si) TID and 110 MeV·cm²/mg SEL immunity — in a compact 128-pin ceramic flatpack.

Clocked at up to 50 MHz (half the rate of the VA41620/VA41630), the VA41628 is targeted at power-sensitive subsystems and simpler control tasks within spacecraft, where high-speed processing is not required. It includes 64 KB of data SRAM and 256 KB of program SRAM with EDAC and memory scrubbing, along with 75 configurable GPIO pins and three each of UART, I2C, and SPI interfaces.

With 24 configurable 32-bit timers and a 4-channel DMA controller, the VA41628 is suited for power management, attitude control subsystems, and payload control functions. It is designated as the recommended replacement for the legacy VA10820 Cortex-M0 at equivalent cost, providing a significant capability upgrade.

Available in 128-pin CQFP and 196-pin BGA packages.
