About Gaisler

Frontgrade Gaisler (formerly Cobham Gaisler / Aeroflex Gaisler) has delivered computing solutions for harsh environments since 2001, accumulating millions of flight hours across European and international space missions. The company specializes in radiation-hardened and fault-tolerant microprocessors, System-on-Chip (SoC) designs, and the software ecosystems that support them, and has played a key role in establishing European standards for space-grade ASIC and FPGA development.

Gaisler's product range spans rad-hard microprocessors and microcontrollers built around its fault-tolerant LEON SPARC V8 and NOEL-V RISC-V processor families, rad-hard interconnect and interface IP (SpaceWire, SpaceFibre, CAN FD, MIL-STD-1553, Gigabit Ethernet), fault-tolerant memory controllers, cryptography and security modules, and the GRLIB IP core library used to build custom SoCs on FPGA or ASIC. On the software and tools side, the company provides bare-metal cross-compilers (BCC, NCC), operating system support (RTEMS, VxWorks, Zephyr, Linux for LEON/NOEL), debug tools (GRMON4), simulators (TSIM2/TSIM3), and development boards and EGSE systems for the full GR700/GR740/GR765/GR716/GR718B device families.

Gaisler's products are qualified to demanding space standards including QML Q/V, ECSS-Q-ST-60-13C, and are listed on the European Preferred Parts List (EPPL). The GR740 quad-core LEON4FT SoC, for example, was developed as ESA's Next Generation Microprocessor (NGMP). As part of Frontgrade Technologies, Gaisler continues to support customers across ESA, NASA, and commercial space programs with rad-hard computing platforms, development tools, and engineering support from its Gothenburg, Sweden headquarters.
