The fabricators at Aerospace Fabrication and Materials (AFM) are experienced and equipped to create specialized MLI blankets and plume shields. These shields are specifically designed for use around engine nozzles or other extreme high temperature sources. Through the use of specialized materials, such as polyimide films, Nomex® threads, graphite cloth, ceramic textiles, silicon carbide textiles, and silica fiber felt, AFM is able to create Plume Shields that can withstand high to ultra-high temperature ranges. These shields are capable of enduring temperatures from 300°C to 1,000°C and even above, providing robust protection in demanding aerospace environments.
