About
STARLIGHT is MBRYONICS’s fibre-coupled optical modem supporting multiple data modulation formats within the 1550 nm (ITU C-band) range, including polarization modulation, On-Off Keying, and coherent modulation schemes. It is compatible with SDA 3.1 and IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standards with forward error correction, enabling integration for LEO, MEO, and GEO optical inter-satellite links and space-to-ground links. The integrated Modem+ACU design weighs less than 3.5 kg, and is used alongside the StarBurst LNA and Booster optical amplifiers, which can be supplied as a combined payload or as a stack combined with the STARCOM Antenna Control Unit. One ACU can control up to four STARCOM units.
