It features an active attitude determination and control system (ADCS) and has an electrical power system (EPS) capable of generating 1250 W. The satellite has a mass of 2000 kg and is designed for a lifetime of 1-3 years. It operates in a Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) at an altitude of 36000 km. The Raduga satellite was launched using a Proton-K carrier rocket and a DM upper stage from the Baikonur Cosmodrome. The first launch of a Raduga satellite took place on December 22, 1975.
