The RD-180 is a liquid rocket engine with afterburning of oxidizing gas, developed between 1994 and 1999 and released in 1999. It is designed to power the first stage of the Atlas launch vehicle family, specifically for the American company ULA. The engine uses oxygen and kerosene as propellants. It features thrust vector control by swinging cameras in the same plane, with an 8-degree range, and a thrust range from 100% down to 47%. The RD-180 has undergone extensive testing, with over 260 tests conducted and a total operating time exceeding 50,000 seconds. It has a guaranteed service life of 10 years and an estimated production/delivery time of 18 months. The engine is flight qualified, having completed 6 launches of the Atlas 3 LV and 80 launches of the Atlas 5 LV as of September 1, 2019. Its operating time in 86 flights exceeded 20,000 seconds by the same date. The product is certified for 10 modifications of the Atlas launch vehicle and can be adapted to customer requirements.
