About

Redwire’s rigid panel solar array systems are high-heritage, scalable power generation platforms ranging from 50 W to over 15 kW per wing, offered in stowed, deployable, and yoke/offset standoff structural configurations. The arrays use composite facesheet construction over aluminum honeycomb panels with titanium inserts, paired with modular pre-loaded hinge assemblies that offer discrete viscous-damped, eddy-current-damped, or un-damped deployment options.

Redwire partners with leading photovoltaic suppliers — Spectrolab, SolAero, Azur, and Mpower — to balance power output against cost. Arrays can also be built to meet ESD, electrostatic, and magnetic cleanliness requirements for sensitive science payloads, and have flown on missions such as the Imaging X-ray Polarimetry Explorer (IXPE), launched December 2021.

Typical specific mass runs from 0.02 to 0.15 kg per watt, with panel sizes commensurate with power output (roughly 1 m x 1 m and larger). The product line serves commercial and military aerospace, NASA research missions, and university-funded educational missions across LEO, MEO, GEO, deep-space, and lander applications.
