About
ROSA (Roll Out Solar Array) is Redwire’s scalable, high-power solar array family engineered for compact stowed volume via a proprietary rolled configuration. Innovative composite booms store strain energy to self-deploy the array without motors or complex mechanisms, then convert into the array’s primary deployed structure with high stiffness and strength. The Integrated Modular Photovoltaic Blanket Assembly (IMBA) is built from modular Solar Power Modules that accommodate multiple photovoltaic cell types and sizes, including flexible concentrators, and tolerates launch-induced vibration well in its rolled state.
ROSA has flown on key NASA programs including the DART mission and the International Space Station, where Redwire has delivered 8 Sunstone ROSA solar wings to augment ISS power generation. The array supports operation from 12V up to more than 300V, achieves a high stowed power density of approximately 40 kW/m^3, and can include optional retractable wings.
ROSA is offered in six standard wing configurations scaling from small (Diamond: 8.6 m deployed length, 36 kg, 3.3 kW BOL) to very large (Phenacite: 18.5 m deployed length, 521 kg, 37 kW BOL), covering a wide range of mission power and stowage requirements.
