STARLIGHT

STARLIGHT is Mbryonics’ integrated digital optical modem system, combining a modem, Antenna Control Unit (ACU), StarBurst low-noise amplifier (LNA), and booster optical amplifier for LEO, MEO, and GEO optical inter-satellite links (OISL) and space-to-ground links. Operating in the 1550nm ITU C-band, it leverages STARCOM’s polarization modulation, On-Off Keying (OOK), and coherent modulation capabilities, and supports diverse protocols and speeds. It is compliant with SDA 3.1 and IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standards and includes Forward Error Correction (FEC). The modem and ACU together weigh less than 3.5kg, with the full amplified configuration under 4kg, and a complete optical terminal with one STARCOM head weighs under 14kg. A single ACU can control up to four STARCOM units, supporting scalable multi-terminal satellite payloads.
