The Xiphos Q8J is a processor board specifically engineered for space applications, building upon the capabilities of the Q8 processor. It incorporates a Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ Multi-Processor System-on-Chip (MPSoC) Processing FPGA, which includes a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 Application Processing Unit, a dual-core ARM Cortex-R5 Real-Time Processing Unit, and an ARM Mali-400 GPU, all supported by extensive programmable logic resources. A key enhancement in the Q8J is the addition of multi-Gigabit per second transceivers for JESD204B and PCIe interfaces, enabling access to external DDR3 or DDR4 memory and supporting the next generation of Software Defined Radio (SDR).
Memory features include 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM with ECC, 2 x 256 MB QSPI Flash (NOR), and 2 x 128 GB eMMC. It also supports external PL-accessible DDR3 or DDR4 memory via its mezzanine connector. The board operates with a typical power consumption of 6W at 5V to 9V. Interfaces provided are Gigabit Ethernet, USB 2.0 & 3.1, serial, and multiple high-speed I/O via a mezzanine connector, including GPIO, LVDS, GTH and GTR multi-Gbps transceivers for SATA, PCIe, and JESD204B. A Linux SDK is provided for development. The Q8J is designed with radiation effects mitigation and boasts a 30krad TID lifetime. Xiphos offers application-specific development and customization for integrating their Q-Card processors with specific interfacing options and electronics.
