The Xiphos Q8J SDR is an extremely high-performance software-defined radio platform built on the Xilinx Zynq UltraScale+ MPSoC (via the Q8J host board) and the Analog Devices AD9361 RF agile transceiver. The combination of the Q8J’s JESD204B-capable GTH transceivers with the AD9361 enables a tightly coupled SDR architecture with onboard PL-accessible DDR3 memory providing deterministic, low-latency operation essential for real-time radio processing.
Two RF transmit and two RF receive ports connect to external antennas or RF front-ends. Additional interfaces include Gigabit Ethernet, CAN bus, SPI, a GPS input, PPS timing input, and LVDS GPIO for synchronization and control of ancillary RF hardware.
The Q8J SDR is well-suited for satellite telemetry and command communications, launcher communications, Internet of Things connectivity, and RF sensing payloads. At 7W typical power with both transmitters active, it is among the most power-efficient high-performance SDR solutions available for the space market.
