The Yamal-401 satellite serves to provide communication, television broadcasting, and data transmission throughout Russia. It was constructed under contract with Gazprom Space Systems satellite operator, with Reshetnev Company responsible for satellite development, assembly, integration, testing, and ground control segment construction. Yamal-401 is the third satellite based on the Express-2000 heavy bus, following Express-AM5 and Express-AM6. The satellite weighs approximately 3000 kg, features 11 kW of payload power, and is designed for a 15-year lifetime. It carries 6 antennas and 53 C- and Ku-band transponders, enabling continuous 24/7 service across Russia. Yamal-401 was launched on December 15, 2014, and is currently stationed at 90 degrees East.
