About
The Collins Aerospace TELDIX RSI 12 is a space-qualified momentum and reaction wheel featuring integrated Wheel Drive Electronics (WDE) with angular momentum storage of 4 to 12 Nms. Built on more than 40 years of TELDIX space-wheel technology and 7,300 years of cumulative in-orbit operational time, the RSI 12 is designed for attitude control systems (ACS) of spacecraft weighing between 200 and 1,000 kg. The modular architecture separates rotor, motor, bearing unit, and electronics into individually space-qualified subsystems, enabling fast adaptation to customer requirements and flexible mission configurations. All variants are hermetically sealed for long-life operation, optimized for minimum power loss torque, and volume/mass efficient for integration into small and medium satellite platforms. The RSI 12 is usable as either a momentum wheel or a reaction wheel with a design lifetime exceeding 15 years.
